Google Sidewiki: New Comments Algo.
Google has just released a new plugin to the google toolbar for Firefox and Internet Explorer which will allow you to post a comment on any webpage on the internet. Although this idea has been tried before by other web browsers, Google plans to use an algorithm that will rank comments by quality and then link those comments to a user’s Google Profile. Now of course the first thing most spammers will try to do with this is find a way to abuse it, but Google Sidewiki will feature an algorithm that can filter out obvious spam and other techniques used by those who like to try and trick the search engines. Only Google Toolbar users will be able to see the comments on the Web page, but Google plans to work on an API that will allow developers to use Sidewiki in other places.
Google is still working on a few tweeks to the plugin but it is available if you want reinstall the google toolbar in either Firefox or Internet Explorer. I’m still playing around with the plugin myself so I am not fully aware of everything it can do. If you want all the meaty details about Google Sidewiki then I recommend you check out this article by Search Engine Land. As always, thanks for reading.

that sounds like a great feature for sites where they sell stuff and you dont know how good their stuff really is … will there be any seo benefits to posting messages in the wiki? ie. can i add my sig and will it be picked up by google?
