After spanking New Mexico 82-64 the Washington Huskies have advanced to the regional semifinal in Syracuse, N.Y., against West Virginia’s on Thursday’s. This is funny because alot people had counted the Huskies out of the tournament race just a few months ago. At this point, the Huskies had a record of 12—7 and had lost all five of their road games so there was no reason to believe that this team was going to make it to the tournament, let alone play as well as they have.

But after seeing Kansas fall to Northern Iowa, there is no reason to count the Huskies out against any opponent. With the Huskies playing up to their full potential, they can compete with any team in the nation. The Huskies are in the round of 16 for the third time since 2005. What are your thoughts? Do you think this team can make it to the Final Four or maybe even the NCAA title? Either way, Go Huskies, and thanks for reading.

Today we find out if the Jets really have what it takes to get to the Super Bowl. Now although I think that the Jets have played some pretty good football the last few weeks I just don’t think they will be able to do enough against Manning and the Colts. Since the Colts don’t have to worry about the Chargers this time it should be a pretty easy win, but then again, this is the playoffs and anything can happen.

Anyway, I like the Colts to take this one, just because the Jets slide one past them a few weeks ago I don’t see that happening today. Well enjoy the game and go Colts.

Pete Carroll has stepped down as head coach of USC and is now heading to Seattle to coach the Seahawks. The news comes after just a few days from Jim Mora being fired, Mora was fired Friday after finishing his first season as head coach with a 5-11 record. This isn’t the first time Pete Carroll has coached in the NFL but his record isn’t that great, he was fired by the New York Jets after one season in 1994 and later by the New England Patriots in 1997.

After finishing 33-31 the first time I expect things to be different this time around for Carroll, rumor has it that Pete Carroll wants to bring in Norm Chow, his former coordinator at USC, as well as USC offensive line coach Pat Ruel, a veteran NFL assistant. So from the look of things he is already off to a good start. Hopefully things will work out and he is able to lead the Seattle Seahawks back to the playoffs.

Seattle is still looking for a new GM so the spot is still up for grabs. Former Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese will interview with the Seahawks sometime this week, and Pittsburgh Steelers administrator Omar Khan is also looking to meet with the team. I like the way things are looking so far for the Seahawks next year, now Seattle just needs to make a few good draft picks and we should be good to go. As always, thanks for reading.

If you watched the Seattle vs Tennessee game on Sunday then I’m sure you saw Chris Johnson break the 2,000 yards mark. For the most part it was a pretty close game and Seattle was doing their best to keep Johnson from getting the record but it just wasn’t enough. Johnson became the sixth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season and has now joined Eric Dickerson, Jamal Lewis, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis and O.J. Simpson in the 2,000-yard club.

Even though he did this against Seattle I am still happy for the guy, after all, it is not easy to get 2,000 yards in a season so I was happy to watch someone do it. The sad thing is that Johnson may have broken the all time record (2,105) if the refs hadn’t called a silly holding penalty which took a 62 yard touchdown run off the board early in the 4th quarter. Johnson ended the game with 134 rushing yards for the game and 2,006 total yards for the season. Final score: Tennessee 17 – Seattle 13.

As always, thanks for reading.

Looks like the days of being a Seattle Seahawk are now over for running back Edgerrin James. Jame just did not seem to work out in the formation. It is sad because I always liked this guy, mostly when he was with the Colts. But like everything else, all good things must come to an end. Hopefully he doesn’t fully hang up his jersey but it might be the best thing for him to do, after all he has a great career and has nothing to feel bad about, he did what he could but it is now time to move on to something else.

Seattle has also released safety C.J. Wallace and cornerback Travis Fisher. It has been a rough year for the Seahawks and clearly some changes need to be made in order for this team to get back on track. A new quarter back would be nice since Matt Hasselback just can’t seem to get the job done anymore. Some might argue that the only reason the Seahawks are struggling is because of the lack of Walter Jones, but I don’t think this is the case. The Seahawks are getting old in terms of players, it is time that they start getting a little more aggressive in the NFL draft and go after some of the more promising players. I understand that this is always a gamble but it is better than picking up has beens who only have a little left in the tank. Well as always thanks for reading and hey, Go Hawks.

At the time of writing this it is the bottom of the 8th inning with the Yankees leading 7-3, now unless the Phillies do something amazing in the next inning you can pretty say game over. Now I’ll be honest and say that I have not watched the full game, mainly because I am not a Yankee fan or even of the Phillies for that matter, but hey this is news worth blogging about so why not. If anything I can say that I am happy for ARod, if the Yankees do pull this off and win then the monkey will finally be lifted off of ARod’s back. I only say this because he was clearly in it for the money after he left Seattle, but who in their right mind would turn down over 200 mil.

Anyway I just wanted to post this just for the heck of it, I really don’t like the Yankees, as a matter of fact I can’t stand them, however I still like to give credit where credit is due. After all they do have more titles than any other team in the game and they are clearly the most aggressive when it comes to spending, so for that I guess I’ll go ahead and tip my ball cap to them. Final score, Hankees win 7-3. As always, thanks for reading.

What an amazing game yesterday. If I was a Trojan fan I would most defiantly be feeling sick to the stomach right now. Clearly no one thought this would happen, the Trojans have been a power house for awhile now, but the fact is the Huskies was able to pull this off with a winning field goal with 3 seconds left in the game . I guess all good things do come to an end, after all we have lost 7 games in a row to these guys so it is about time we were able to snatch one from them.

So I guess the question is do the Huskies now have a coach who might be able to lead them back to the promise land? Well so far so good, hopefully they can keep the momentum going into next weeks game. Next week the Huskies will face Standford another one of their PAC-10 rivals. Now course I am not a sports writer, but I like to talk about the games from time to time, plus this is fresh content so why not. If you want all of the details about yesterdays game then you can check out this article (Huskies Upset #3 USC) from the Seattle Times. As always thanks reading.

I know alot of people are not fond of the WNBA but what can I say, I like it. Being from Seattle naturally I’m a Seattle Storm fan just as I am a fan of all the other Seattle teams. However, last night was another disappointing lose for the Storm in the first round of the playoffs as they lost to the L.A. Sparks 63-70. It seems they just can’t get over the hump when it comes playoff time. Ever since we won the title in 2004 things just haven’t been working out. Being knocked out of the first round every time they hit the playoffs is just not a good sign of where the team is headed. Most would blame the fact that it is because Lauren Jackson has been out for so long. This might be the case to some degree but the Storm still have a pretty strong team when she is not available.

Either way, it’s time for the girls to dig deep and find a way to pull this off. Game 2 will be Friday at 7:00 pm at the KeyArena in Seattle. In order for the Storm to win the girls on the bench are going to have to step up their game a little. I’ll be checking them out tomorrow and hopefully we can tie this thing up, other wise we’ll be looking towards the next season. As always, thanks for reading.

Well it looks like it is official, the Seattle Seahawks have signed Edgerrin James former running back of the Arizona Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts to a 1 year deal worth $2 million. I think this is a great move for Seattle, we need someone strong and who can get the job done for us this year. I watched alot of James when he was with the Colts so I know he has a good running style, I just hope he can produce that here.

The bad news is that Walter Jones may be out longer than expected so running from both sides is going to be a challenge. But overall I think James should fit right into things, he had no problem when he went to Arizona so I don’t see him have much a problem here either. It should be an interesting year, and the 2 the games Seattle has against the Cardinals should interesting as well, can James rake up yards against his former team? Either way, I’ll be watching all season so let’s hope it turns out to be a good one.
