Ok I just had to post this. Mainly because I’ve been doing a lot of dooms day talk with people on various forums and stuff. Anyway, I came across a Lisa Barone article about “The New Periodic Table of SEO” which is a very good read if you want the quick details about what’s going on over here at SMX Seattle. In her coverage of Rand Fishkin she reports the following: Read more…
This video has been edited from its original version. In the heat of the moment I got off track and placed blame on a company that has nothing to do with what this video is about. I truly apologize for any confusion.

Over the weekend we launched a special seo offer for members of the V7N forum. We didn’t receive to much feedback on it, but I kinda expected that, the members their are pretty tough and you really have to bring something solid to the table and I respect that. No one wanted to sign up for the free boost we were offering so we thought it best to just provide one ourselves. We choose to go with a keyword that in our opinion is pretty tough to rank for “diamond engagement rings“. I have to admit that we chose http://www.jewelryexchange.com because we see their commercials here in Seattle all the time, and to be honest I thought they were from Renton, WA, I didn’t know they are one of the largest jewelry stores online. People ask me for SEO advice all the time, and for the most part I tell them all the same thing. Build better links and write quality content. When you think about it these are no brainers so why beat people over the head with it over and over again. Today I’m going to give you some SEO advice that you can truly benefit from if you put them into play. It’s not a blue print to SEO, just some good old fashion encouragement, which, believe it or not some people really do need, including myself. Some of you might think this is a little harsh, but that’s just the way I am. Anyway, read, take heed, and enjoy. Read more…
I just noticed today that a very popular Social Bookmarking site Folkd.com has placed a no-follow tag on all outbound links. This is a shame, but to some degree I don’t blame them. This site was getting hit hard with spam so it’s about time that they did something about it. Even though the site is now no-follow I think you can still get some good link juice from it, at least from Yahoo and Bing. The site still holds some weight so it is worth using. You’ll just have to take it off your A-list of bookmarking sites.
Anyway, just thought I through this out there, It’s sad to see a site have to resort to this tag, but in some cases it is the best choice if you want to control the spammers. Well thanks for reading, and may the serps be with you.
Ok, so last year I was really late putting my post up about the Search Marketing Expo being held here in Seattle. Well they are back again this year so I am putting this one up a few months in advanced so that you can have a chance to see what will be presented there and who will be speaking.
SMX Meet & Greet
Monday: June 6, 2011 – 6PM to 7:30PM
This year the Search Marketing Expo will start off with an informal evening reception on the Bell Harbor’s Rooftop Plaza. Those who show up early will have a chance to meet and speak with fellow attendees, speakers and other invited guests. It looks like there is going to be alot of cool things going on at the Expo this year, of course my favorite part is going to be the “You&A With Matt Cutts” I’m sure the audience will have some pretty interesting questions for Matt this year and I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he gets stumbled by something.
Anyway, if you haven’t registered yet then now is a good time to do so while they are still offering some good deals. Here is a break down of current prices for different types of passes that are available.

I got this email the other day from Rand Fishkin of SEOmoz regarding a free 30 trial of their PRO Membership and a chance to win a free lifetime pro membership. This is actually a pretty cool offer because it allows you full access to all of the features of SEOmoz PRO. If you are heavy into metrics then you will want to use these tools, they are great for checking out the competition as well as doing keyword research and rank tracking.
If you are already a member of SEOmoz then you may have already gotten this email. I’m mainly posting this for those who may not be aware of the powerful tools that SEOmoz has to offer. So go ahead and sign up, it won’t hurt to at least try it for 30 days, after all it’s freeÂ

Well it’s been awhile since Google made a full Page Rank update, but it looks like they have finally done so. We have seen some positive green this time around both on this site and on our SEO Forum (now PR 3). Still no love for index-it, Google still has the site on lock down at the moment, but we expect that to change the next time. Anyway, we like to post these updates when they happen, mainly so we can keep track of how long it has been since the last update.
Well I hope everyone else has seen a nice PR change, if not, keep working at it, sooner or later it will come through for you. As always thanks for reading and come back soon.
We thought this would be a good time to remind everyone to do a quick site check and clean up. What I mean by that, is to go through your entire site and check for things like broken links and links that are not redirecting to the proper location. Doing a simple site check and clean up can have a nice impact in terms of search engine rankings. You’ll also want to check for duplicate descriptions and title tags. Read more…
