Apple Reaches 100,000 Apps

November 5th, 2009 Online Marketing Advisors

Yesterday Apple announced that developers have created over 100,000 apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch in 20 categories, including games, business, news, sports, health, reference and travel. This is an outstanding number considering that it only took Apple 2 years to reach this point.  With over 10,000 downloads a day worldwide Apple is clearly leading the way when it comes to apps thus making it the largest applications store in the world.

Microsoft launched with about 240 apps and now has around 20,000 available for Windows Mobile, but this is no where near the number that Apple has put out on the market. Microsoft does plan to announce further news next week about the Windows Martketplace for Mobile. In the meantime it looks like Apple will keep leading way.

There are a few complaints however but nothing major, some are displeased with the fact that the Apple Store only shows 20 apps in any given category. I find this a little a troubling, I mean with a 100,000 apps to chose from a person really needs to know what they are looking for in order to find something that will be suitable for them to use. In either case this is great news for Apple and show the dedication that have towards this market.
