Submissions

Submissions is the process of notifying search engines or directories about a website. Every search tool has a form to enable the submission of websites, varying from a simple URL address (for a search engine), to more detailed information (for a directory). Submissions may be made manually or by using automated software, although the former method is generally accepted to be more effective for search engine placement.

The last thing you want to do is use automated software to submit your site to the search engines it is heavily frowned upon by Google, plus it is not necessary.

Some companies feel that the more search engines you submit to the better. Although it is great if you can get listed in all of these search engines it does not mean that your site will rank well. Keep in mind that when you submit to a search engine all you are doing is telling that search engine that your web site is online. If you want better rankings in these search engines then you are going to need to submit to some quality directories or get links from sites that are relevant to yours.

Remember it is about location, the more locations (location means other websites, not search engines) your site can found in, the higher your link popularity will be. The best place to get link popularity is going to be from directories or other websites.
